Creating Real Competition So Texans Save More on Electricity

What is WattTrim

WattTrim is a plan comparison audit powered by GridWise Audit, one of the largest electricity plan databases in Texas - 1,500+ plans and growing across all six TDU service areas, including exclusive broker-negotiated rates not found on PowerToChoose.org.

The more plans we compare, the better the results for Texans.

You won't find "Top Pick" or "Recommended" labels here. A plan that saves one household $500 a year could cost the next one more. Your best plan depends entirely on how you use electricity, and the only way to find it is to run the numbers on your actual usage data against all available plans, not just a curated set.

Because we compare against every available plan, not every provider pays us a commission. Your top results might be ones that earn us nothing, and we're good with that - that is the cost of transparency. The right plan for you will always outrank the profitable one for us. You can read about how we calculate results here.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does WattTrim support small business electricity?
Yes. WattTrim supports both residential and small commercial accounts across all six Texas TDU service areas. Small business customers can use our Quick Estimate, full audit, and Sentinel monitoring with commercial-specific TDU delivery rates applied automatically. Simply select "Small Business" when entering your information.
How does WattTrim find savings?
WattTrim is powered by GridWiseAudit.com, which sources plans from PowerToChoose.org, exclusive broker-negotiated rates, and affiliate partner platforms - placing providers in real competition against your actual Smart Meter Texas usage data, interval by interval. We factor in time-of-use pricing, bill credits, TDU delivery charges, base fees, solar export credits, and early termination fees. Real competition results in real savings.
Is my data secure?
Your usage data is pulled securely through Smart Meter Texas after you authorize access. We never store your personal information longer than needed to deliver your report. Bill photos are analyzed securely and never stored. Your personal identifiers are tokenized and stored separately from your usage data, so your identity is never linked to your electricity analysis. There are no passwords to create, remember, or steal - we use secure one-time login codes instead. All connections are encrypted, your data is never sold or shared, and our operations are backed by comprehensive cyber liability insurance.
What do I need to get started?
Your email, your ESIID (Electric Service Identifier), and your meter number. Both are found on any Texas electricity bill. If you have a recent bill handy, upload a photo and we'll find them for you. After you submit, you'll receive an email from Smart Meter Texas to authorize data access. Once approved, we pull your usage data and email you when your report is ready.
