Smart Meter Texas Data: What WattTrim Does With Your Usage

Your Smart Meter Texas data is the most accurate record of how your home uses electricity. A WattTrim audit uses it to price real plans against your real usage. Here is how access works, what the audit does with the data, and what it does not do.

If you want to look at the data yourself, read how to download your Smart Meter Texas data on GridWise Audit. For a WattTrim audit, you do not need to download or upload anything.

How Access Works

Just snap a photo of your bill. WattTrim reads your meter and rate details and fills them in for you. Give them a quick look, then approve the Smart Meter Texas email with one click. That's it. WattTrim pulls your 15-minute usage directly from Smart Meter Texas, so there are no files to download or upload. Prefer typing? You can enter the details yourself instead.

You stay in control. The authorization comes from Smart Meter Texas, not from WattTrim, and nothing is pulled until you approve it.

What the Audit Does With Your Data

The audit uses up to 12 months of your usage. With it, the audit:

  • Adds up your usage month by month, so each plan is priced at what you actually used in each month.
  • Applies each plan's bill credits and base charges in the months they would really apply.
  • Splits your usage by time of day, which matters for time-of-use plans with cheaper night or weekend hours.
  • If you have solar, separates the power you bought from the power you sent back to the grid, so buyback plans are judged fairly.
  • Emails you when your personalized report is ready, usually within minutes of authorization.

The result is a list of plans in your area with an estimated monthly cost and annual savings for each, based on your home instead of a sample home.

What the Audit Does Not Do

A one-time audit is a snapshot. It does not keep pulling your data after the report is done. It also does not change your plan or sign you up for anything. If you decide to switch, that is your choice.

Ongoing Access With Sentinel

If you want the comparison to stay current, WattTrim Sentinel is an optional subscription ($4.99/mo or $44.99/yr). With your permission, Sentinel accesses your meter data weekly for up to 12 months and keeps comparing plans as your usage changes with the seasons. It also adds contract renewal reminders and high-use day tips in your portal.

You can cancel Sentinel and revoke data access at any time. When you cancel, the usage pattern and email address kept for your subscription are deleted.
